Description
IN STOCK AND READY FOR DELIVERY
Condition: Used — Full kit, shows signs of use on some anvils and on the tool body, but in perfect working / precise condition
Mitutoyo’s Series 511 bore gauges are among the most trusted inside-diameter (ID) measurement tools in precision metalwork, machine shops, tool & die, and inspection labs. The 511-132-05 variant (50-100 mm) is designed to offer high-accuracy measurements across that range, with a complete set of interchangeable anvils & spacers, plus ruby-tipped contact surfaces to improve wear resistance and measurement fidelity in delicate or abrasive environments.
In this used full kit, all components function as intended. Though there are visible signs of wear—minor scoring or surface blemishes on some anvils and light cosmetic wear on the body—calibration and precision are intact. Ideal for machinists requiring reliable ID measurement in medium-sized bores, especially when measuring soft metals or finishes that might be sullied by more aggressive materials.
Technical Specifications
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Make & Model | Mitutoyo Series 511, Model 511-132-05 (50-100 mm measuring range) |
Condition | Used — full kit; signs of use on anvils & body; precise and functional |
Measuring Range | 50 – 100 mm |
Anvils & Spacers | Interchangeable anvils (including ruby-tipped anvils) + spacers to cover full range |
Contact Tip Material | Ruby tipped anvils/contact points — higher hardness, non-conductive, excellent surface wear resistance and gentle on softer materials |
Accuracy (Wide-range / MPE) | ≈ ±2 µm typical for this class of Mitutoyo Series 511 bore gauges |
Repeatability | ~ 0.5 µm |
Graduation Options | Usually 0.01 mm, some kits allow finer resolution depending on dial indicator used |
Grip / Handle Design | Hollow or large-grip style to reduce heat transfer from operator’s hand, helping maintain measurement stability under prolonged use Mitutoyo+2Mitutoyo Shop+2 |
Dial Indicator (if included / typical) | No dial indicator included |
Accessories | Full set of anvils/sub-anvils/spacers appropriate to the 50-100 mm span; storage case; adjustment wrenches; calibration or setting ring recommended |
Mass / Size | (Typical gauge body + set) several hundred grams; kit dimensions dependent on case; compact enough for bench or tool chest storage |
What “Ruby Tipped Anvils” Mean / Advantages
- Hardness & Wear Resistance: Ruby (often synthetic corundum) is extremely hard, resisting wear significantly more than many steels under repeated contact. This helps maintain the roundness, surface finish, and accuracy of the gauge tip over time.
- Non-conductive & Thermal Stability: Ruby does not conduct electricity, so in measurement setups near EDM or electrically active tooling it reduces risk of electrical interaction. It also has lower thermal expansion than many steels, helping reduce measurement error from tip material expansion.
- Gentler on Soft Workpiece Materials / Surface Finish: When measuring softer metals or delicate finishes, a ruby tip is less likely to cause marring or scratch marks than harder steel or carbide tips. This preserves surface integrity when finish matters.
- Low Friction & Repeatable Contact: Ruby tip surfaces are very smooth; this can lead to more consistent contact behavior and reduced „stick-slip“ effect when inserting or repositioning into a bore, which aids in repeatability.
Potential trade-offs: cost is higher for ruby tipped components; ruby, though very hard, can be more brittle than carbide, so tips must be handled carefully. Tip damage (chips, cracks) can degrade performance.
