The Mitutoyo 146-101 is a highly specialized Groove Micrometer designed for inspecting features that standard calipers or micrometers cannot accurately reach.

Instead of standard flat anvils, this tool features Flanged Spindles (disc-shaped measuring faces). This unique design allows the measuring faces to slip inside a bore to precisely measure the width, depth, and location of internal O-ring grooves, circlip seats, and undercuts. It is equally capable of measuring external groove widths on shafts.+1

• Dual Graduations: Because the thickness of the flanges changes the baseline measurement depending on how you use it, the barrel features two separate types of graduations—one scale for Inside (ID) measurements and one for Outside (OD) measurements.
• Two-Directional Ratchet: It features a specialized two-directional ratchet stop on a non-rotating spindle. This ensures that you apply a consistent measuring force (0.7 – 1.2N) whether you are expanding the discs against an inside groove or clamping them against an outside groove.+1
