The probe generates a high-resolution, differential square-wave signal as the plunger moves; the EB counter converts that signal into a precise numeric readout and provides tolerance judgment and data outputs for integration with inspection stations, fixtures, or machine controls. The result is a compact, robust system for in-line or bench gauging of lengths, thickness, runout, positional shift, and other displacement-based checks.

Fixture or bench gauge: Mount the 542-123 probe so its contact tip references the work surface/feature; connect to the 542-092-2 to display live displacement. Use preset to set a nominal value and tolerance outputs for pass/fail sorting.
In-line/automation: Feed the EB counter’s BCD/analog outputs to a PLC or data system for automated measurements, trend charts, or SPC. Peak/Min/Max capture assists with runout, flatness, or deflection checks during motion.
Calibration/setting: Use gauge blocks or a master to set zero/preset, then run comparative checks on parts; the ball-bearing spindle and optical encoder of the probe support smooth, repeatable readings.
