The Peacock PCN-1L is a specialised Long Contact Point Dial Test Indicator (Lever Type).
While standard test indicators use a short stylus (typically 15-18mm), the “L” series features a significantly Longer Stylus (approx. 42.8mm). This extended reach is invaluable for:
- Deep Access: Measuring features recessed deep inside a bore or cavity where a standard indicator body would hit the workpiece.
- Clearance: Clearing clamps, bolt heads, or flanges to reach the surface you need to measure.
Despite the long arm, Peacock’s engineering ensures the leverage ratio remains accurate to the dial reading. It features Peacock’s signature Clutchless (Auto-Reverse) mechanism, meaning the pointer always rotates clockwise regardless of measuring direction, and jewelled bearings for high sensitivity.

This indicator is in good used condition. The movement is smooth, and the long stylus is straight.
Stored in a Mitutoyo plastic case, not its original Peacock box. The case protects the instrument perfectly well.

Their “Pic Test” series is widely regarded as one of the most durable lever indicators on the market, featuring a unique “O-ring” seal on the bezel that makes them resistant to oil and water ingress better than many competitors.
