The KKS (Kuroda) UFB-2 Universal Facing & Boring Head is a legendary piece of Japanese engineering. It operates much like the famous German Wohlhaupter heads, allowing you to perform complex facing, undercutting, and recessing operations on a standard milling machine.
- Universal Facing Capability: Unlike a standard boring head where the slide is locked in place before you cut, a universal head features an internal gear mechanism. If you hold the knurled outer ring while the spindle is turning, the tool block automatically feeds outward! This allows you to machine flat faces, internal snap-ring grooves, and complex undercuts with a single tool setup.
- MT2 Shank: This specific head is equipped with a standard Morse Taper 2 (MT2) shank, making it highly adaptable for use in smaller milling machines, precision drill presses, or lathe tailstocks.
- Precision Micro-Adjustment: For standard boring operations, the high-precision adjustment screw allows you to dial in your cutting diameter with uncompromising Japanese accuracy, ensuring your bores hit their exact target dimension every time.
- Included Step-Down Collar: While this is a bare unit, it does include a highly useful step-down collar installed in the tool block. This allows you to securely grip smaller-diameter boring bars without needing to source a proprietary sleeve.
