The Nakane Slender Chuck is a purpose-built end mill holding system designed for CNC machining centres and manual mills where a standard chuck body would foul the workpiece or fixture. The slim-profile holder keeps the collet nose close to the spindle centreline and well clear of surrounding clamps, allowing deep-pocket and tight-clearance work that a conventional ER collet chuck simply can’t reach without extending the tool to a dangerous overhang. This set covers the three most common small end mill shank diameters in a single kit — a practical shelf item for any toolroom running die work, mould cavities, or detailed profiling.
- Slender body geometry — the reduced-diameter holder body dramatically improves clearance in confined pockets and around workholding hardware, letting you run shorter tool stickout and recover rigidity that would otherwise be lost to extension.
- Three-collet coverage (ø3.0, ø4.0, ø6.0 mm) — spans the small-diameter end mill range most commonly used in die-sinking and detailed profiling work; swapping collets takes seconds and the sizing covers the majority of jobs without reaching for a second holder.
- Precision ground collet bore — a well-manufactured slender chuck collet grips on the full shank diameter with even clamping pressure, keeping runout tight and protecting the end mill cutting edges from the fretting that a loose or worn collet causes under interrupted cuts.
- Compact elongated holder shank — the long, slim shank visible in the box is ground to a standard arbour diameter, allowing the holder to seat concentrically in a standard spindle taper or toolholder without introducing additional runout at the collet nose.
- Ideal for — deep-pocket CNC milling, mould and die cavity work, profiling around vise jaws and clamps, running small carbide end mills in a manual knee mill where clearance is tight, and anywhere a standard shell mill arbour or ER block body would contact the fixture.

The holder body and elongated shank present well — ground surfaces show normal bench patina consistent with careful use, with no visible damage to the shank diameter or collet seat that would introduce gross runout. The ø4.0 mm and ø6.0 mm collets are in serviceable condition; their bores and external tapers appear clean and free of the kind of corrosion or scoring that would compromise grip or concentricity. The ø3.0 mm collet is the one component that warrants a straight conversation: it has sustained surface rust that has been cleaned back, but the cleaning has left visible pitting on the external taper face. Pitting on the collet OD taper is a functional concern — if the pitted surface doesn’t seat evenly against the chuck bore, it can introduce runout at the tool tip that a sound collet would not. For non-critical profiling, slotting, or roughing in 3 mm, the collet may perform adequately, but for finish work or anywhere you’re holding tight tolerances on a 3 mm shank tool, we recommend checking runout against a known ground test bar or replacing the 3 mm collet before committing it to precision work. The 4 mm and 6 mm collets carry no such reservation and should go straight to work. Original box and foam tray are included and the packaging has done its job — the holder has been protected.
