The certificate of inspection is present, signed, and specific to this instrument’s serial number — meaning the factory accuracy data is traceable to this exact gauge, not a batch average. The cardboard packaging shows minor shelf storage marks consistent with age, but the instrument itself has never been put to work. As with any NOS precision instrument, a quick verification against a calibrated reference — a slip gauge stack or a certified setting master — before first use in a critical application is good practice, particularly if the tool has been stored for an extended period. That said, the presence of the original Mitutoyo calibration certificate is a strong baseline assurance that this gauge left the factory within specification.
