Description
Mitutoyo Quickmini 25 Digital Micrometer — 700-122SU
The Mitutoyo Quickmini 25 (model 700-122SU) is a compact digital outside micrometer covering a 0–25 mm measuring range — the workhorse range for the majority of turned, milled, and ground components you’ll see come across the bench. Designed with a slim, ergonomic body and a clear LCD readout, this is Mitutoyo’s answer to fast, one-handed measurement without sacrificing the resolution or repeatability you’d expect from a Japanese toolroom instrument. New Old Stock and battery-free from the factory, this unit has never been put to work.
- In/mm switchable readout with 0.001 mm / 0.0001″ resolution — lets you work in whichever system your drawing calls for without reaching for a conversion chart. At one micron resolution, you’re reading well inside the tolerance band of most precision turned components.
- Compact “Quick Mini” form factor — the reduced frame size makes it genuinely manageable for one-handed operation when your other hand is holding a part at the lathe or checking a ground shaft in-situ. Lighter than a standard frame micrometer without compromising rigidity of the anvil and spindle assembly.
- Carbide-tipped measuring faces — hardened carbide on both the anvil and spindle face resists wear from repeated contact with steel and cast iron workpieces. Critical for maintaining flat, parallel measuring faces over the tool’s service life — a worn face is what kills accuracy on a micrometer, not the electronics.
- OFF / ON / ZERO controls with origin-set function — the dedicated ZERO button lets you set a reference point against a setting standard or gauge block, useful for comparative gauging and in-process checking rather than just absolute measurement.
- Ideal for: checking turned bar stock and shafts on the lathe, verifying ground component diameter before heat treatment, inspecting drill shank diameters, four-jaw chuck setup to concentricity, and quality checking CNC-turned parts against drawing tolerance.
Condition
New Old Stock (Unused / Original packaging, battery not installed)
This Quickmini 25 presents in fully unused condition. The measuring faces — both the fixed anvil and the spindle face — show no contact marks, wear flats, or scoring. The thimble and sleeve are clean, with no scratching or handling marks on the precision surfaces. The LCD and all three control buttons (OFF, ON, ZERO) are intact and undamaged. The unit has been stored in its original foam-lined case with papers and accessories present. As is standard for Mitutoyo instruments stored unused over time, the battery has not been installed — this is the correct factory condition and means there is zero risk of battery leakage damage to the electronics or measuring cavity, which is a genuine concern on older instruments where batteries have been left seated. Install a fresh CR2032 (or appropriate coin cell as specified in the manual) before commissioning. Given the NOS status, it is good practice to verify zero against a gauge block or setting standard on first use and confirm spindle travel is smooth and consistent across the full 25 mm range before putting it into production service. No functional compromises are expected — this is simply due diligence for any precision instrument coming out of long-term storage.

Brand Information
Mitutoyo Corporation is Japan’s largest manufacturer of precision measuring instruments and is widely regarded as the global benchmark in dimensional metrology — sitting at the top tier of the market alongside Mahr, Tesa, and Starrett. Founded in 1934 in Kawasaki, Japan, Mitutoyo instruments are specified by toolrooms, aerospace manufacturers, and calibration laboratories worldwide precisely because their instruments are manufactured to consistent, auditable accuracy standards. When you pick up a Mitutoyo micrometer, you’re working with a tool built in the same facility and to the same tolerances as instruments used for ISO-traceable calibration work — that’s the reason they hold their value and remain the default choice on serious Australian shop floors.
